Getting started with Sessio

Sessio · Updated October 7, 2026

A short list of Settings is enough to start. You do not need every page filled in on day one. Who you are, what the practice is called, your timezone, and a typical session are the pieces Sessio reuses, and filling those in makes the rest of the app feel much less blank.

Settings before the first client

In Settings, then Profile, enter your first and last name. Sessio uses them in the app, including your initials in the header, and as the coach name on session recap emails. Set your timezone on the same page. Calendar times, upcoming sessions, and booked times use it. If a time looks an hour off, check this first. It is an easy thing to miss.

Profile is your identity inside Sessio. Public Profile is a separate page you can send to someone who is not a client yet. It stays private until you publish it, so you can skip it until you actually want to share it.

In Settings, then Practice, add your practice name. It can show on the ambient display when that option is on, and it is the business name for the workspace. On the same page, set how recap emails read: subject, greeting, whether to include the next session date, and your sign-off. In the subject you can use {client_name}, {date}, and {session_type}. Wrap-up fills those in when it drafts the email, so the note can still sound like you.

In Settings, then Sessions, choose a default session type, duration, rate, and whether new sessions count toward ICF hours. Those values pre-fill Start, Schedule, and Log session, and the session fields when you add a client. You can still change them on any one session. Think of the defaults as a head start, not a rule you are stuck with.

Click Save on each page you edit. Leaving the page without saving is an easy way to lose a change you thought was kept.

Add a client

Only a first name and a last name are required to save a client. Email, phone, rate, and the rest can wait until you have them. After the first save, open the client and choose Edit profile to add more. It is fine to start thin and fill the profile in as you learn the person.

If you already have a spreadsheet, import it. The first row should be headers. Sessio can match common names such as First name, Last name, Email, and Phone. Rows without both names are skipped. The import creates new client records. It does not merge duplicates, so it is worth cleaning the sheet first if you do not want two rows for the same person.

Run a session, or log one that already happened

You need at least one client before you can start. From the dashboard, start a live session, or schedule one on the calendar. If you are catching up on an hour that already happened, leave the live timer alone. Starting it begins a new session, which is not what you want for old notes.

If the appointment is already on the calendar, open its card and choose Mark completed. If it is not on the calendar yet, schedule the past slot and check that the session already happened, or use Log session from Notes. Logging a past session creates the note, a pending invoice, and ICF minutes when that box is checked. It does not start the ambient display or the recap email.

The client-facing screen is only available after you click Start. The options sit in the Schedule tab of the live session: this screen, or a tablet via a QR code. If you plan to use a tablet, have it nearby before you begin.
